Launch of a PRIN Project of Interest for CLARIN-IT

The Institute for Computational Linguistics of the National Research Council of Italy (ILC-CNR) announces the start of the project "Languages ​​and Cultures of Ancient Italy: Historical Linguistics and Digital Models", coordinated by Prof. Anna Marinetti of the Department of Humanities Studies of the University of Venice in collaboration with Prof. Francesca Murano of the Department of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Florence. ILC-CNR team will be coordinated by Dr Valeria Quochi, responsible for CLARIN-IT user involvement activities. Activities at ILC-CNR will focus on aspects of modeling and development of digital tools for the online fruition of linguistic and historical data of the epigraphic Restsprachen of Ancient Italy.
The project - which is among the winners of the PRIN 2017 Call (aimed at financing Research Projects of Significant National Interest) - will provide data and tools to the CLARIN-IT infrastructure and its activities will contribute to the involvement of historical linguists community as well as to themes and goals shared with the ILC4CLARIN centre, which aims to promote the adoption of digital methods and techniques from Humanities scholars.
